When managing workflow processes, it is important for you to use data visualization tools to analyze the massive amounts of information you receive to enable you to make data-driven decisions. A pivotal aspect of data visualization is using graphics, plots, and other tools to make information easy to understand and communicate.

According to Inc.com, approximately 65 percent of the world’s population are visual learners, hence the likelihood of having a decent amount of them in your organization is high. Visual learners are often called spatial learners and, unsurprisingly, learn and remember best through visual communication.

Therefore, visual presentation of data and information will improve your organizations’ stakeholders’ understanding of what is being discussed, and help them make informed decisions.

What is data visualization?

Data visualization can be referred to as the different ways to organize and view the information in a visual manner for a better understanding of whatever subject matter is being discussed.

Types of data visualization view

Kanban View: Kanban is an agile management system that visualizes work, limits work-in-progress, and maximizes efficiency (or flow). You can use Kanban to track projects, opportunities, and leads by card. Kanban view shows 200 records on movable cards beneath each stage of a selected pipeline.

To show progress and to coordinate teams performing the work, cards are moved from left to right. Kanban boards are divided into horizontal “swimlanes” which represent different kinds of work or different teams.

Calendar View: The calendar view allows you to view your Calendar in a variety of formats is known as “Calendar Views”. Each Calendar view arranges your Calendar data into a different layout and lets you specify how much you can see at once.

There are 4 different types of views available: Day, Week, Month, Year, and Side-by-Side. Using this view, you can organize your calendar by units of a day and see the largest Day Boxes. Using Day View, you can break down your Day Box into a Day Grid that includes individual time slots for every hour during the day. In the Customize and Share screen, you can enable the Day Grid and customize its Time Slots. They allow you to adjust and reorganize information when needed.

Table View: The table view displays a vertically scrolling column of content divided into rows and sections.

Each row of a table would contain a single piece of information. Using sections, you can group related rows together. It allows you to quickly label and compare items as you work on them.

Map View: A map is a visual representation of an entire area or part of an area, usually represented on a flat surface. Maps provide details about a particular region.

There are static maps, two-dimensional maps, three-dimensional maps, dynamic maps, and even interactive maps.

Chart View: A chart displays an asset’s historical price action, which is represented graphically by a series of points connected by a continuous line.

It is similar to a graph in that it is a graphical representation of a data set, with symbols such as bars or lines on a bar chart or slices on a pie chart.

Gallery View: When you select the gallery view option, you are able to display your records as large cards. Specifically, the gallery view indicates your attachments such as photos, documents, and more.

When visualizing videos and pictures, using the gallery view will be most ideal. A furniture supplier, for instance, could use gallery view to track their inventory.
